ASTRAGALUS ROOT LIQUID EXTRACT- ORGANIC

Astragalus is an important herb for our immune system, particularly the immune system as it resides in the lungs.  It strengthens the lung qi, and the lungs strengthen the wei qi.  And it is the wei qi that helps protect us from illness. 

Astragalus is also supportive of the kidneys and liver when damage to them has been caused by viruses and medications.  Combining it with other herbs protective of the liver, such as Milk Thistle, Schisandra, and Turmeric, as well as combining it with herbs protective of the kidneys, such as Nettle Seed, enhances the action of Astragalus.

Please know that Astragalus should not be used if you are already sick with acute infections such as colds, flu, bronchitis, or pneumonia.  Use the herb in a  preventive way and discontinue use if you become ill.

Donald Yance writes in his book, Adaptogens in Medical Herbalism, that "there are no known side effects or toxicity from taking Astragalus Root.  It is considered one of the safest herbs to use and is well-suited for all people - young, old, weak, strong, and even small children and infants (dosage would need to be adjusted accordingly)."
