Day to day, we are subject to the formation of free radicals in our body.  Free radicals are oxygen-containing molecules with an uneven number of electrons and are created through the process of normal cellular metabolism and through exposure to environmental toxins.  Having unpaired electrons renders free radical molecules unstable, short lived, and highly reactive.  Seeking to re-balance themselves by removing electrons from other, stable molecules, free radicals cause large-chain chemical reactions in the body. These chemical reactions are called oxidation.  In low or moderate amounts, free radicals can be beneficial; in high amounts, they pose a threat to our health, particularly when there is a deficiency of antioxidants in the body.  Antioxidants are molecules that can donate an electron to a free radical without making themselves unstable.  The free radical will then stabilize and becomes less reactive.  But more free radicals and few antioxidants can cause damage to lipids, proteins, and DNA and promote an increase in oxidative stress, thereby exacerbating certain diseases including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, cataracts, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory diseases.  The aging process can be negatively impacted by oxidative stress, as well.

If the presence of free radicals in our body is a given, it seems imperative to maintain a healthy intake of antioxidants to keep oxidative stress at a minimum.  We can find antioxidants in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables as well as in herbs.

Cheryl's Herbs' Antioxidant Liquid Extract Combination offers a means of supplementing a healthy diet with additional free radical-fighting compounds found in several herbs.  Each one of our liquid extract combination products contains multiple herbs and are sold in one-ounce, two-ounce, and four-ounce dropper bottles.  These products are for internal use.

The six herbs in the Antioxidant Liquid Extract Combination are:

Milk Thistle Seed - supports the liver in many ways.  The liver is the major detoxifying organ in the body, working constantly to heal itself, to stave off toxins, to cleanse the blood.  Milk Thistle Seed has many actions in the body, but for the purpose of this liquid extract combination, it is restorative to the liver and helps prevent free radical formation.

Ashwagandha Root - is an herb I would choose to use in an attempt to offset the negative effects of aging.  Specifically, it may be of benefit in the prevention or mitigation of Alzheimer’s disease.  Certain antioxidants in this herb are very potent free-radical scavengers and may aid in the prevention of the formation of beta-amyloid fibrils suspected to be involved in the development of Alzheimer’s.

Bacopa Herb - is an antioxidant herb that may assist in slowing the development of Alzheimer’s disease and may protect from free-radical damage in cardiovascular disease and some cancers.

Purslane Herb - is another herbal source of antioxidants, particularly psoralens which are powerfully antioxidant, beneficial where cancer is concerned, and helpful in mitigating psoriasis.

Turmeric Root - aids in glutathione-associated detoxification mechanisms making it protective of the liver and the kidneys.  The effects of endocrine disruptors, such as disorders of development, mutations, and cancer, may be mitigated or even prevented by Turmeric Root.

Green Tea Leaf - has antioxidants that enhance many cellular defense pathways.

Overall, this product, as with any other of our liquid extract combinations, is a synergy offering more to us than any one of the individual herbs in it can offer, thereby creating a potent and promising complement to a healthy diet.

Strongly antioxidant, this combination, because it aids in detoxifying and assists in controlling free-radical damage, has the potential to positively address many unhealthy conditions.  I believe it helps support our vital organs and our pathways of communication in the body.  Daily walks, resting well, and a clean diet consisting of sustainably-created food and healthy beverages in conjunction with the Antioxidant Liquid Extract Combination is urged.  And lest we forget, damage to us comes in many forms - from environmental pollution, cigarettes, cosmetics, hair products, and medications, to psychological and emotional distress.  Best to work at building our health with the Antioxidant Liquid Extract Combination.
