the richness of her own 18 year’s commitment to Yoga.
She has trained extensively in Iyengar and Tibetan yoga and is
accomplished in multiple forms of movement and dance.
For the last 5 years, Sherry
has taught Tantra-Hatha Yoga in the Himalayan tradition learned from her
renowned teacher, Rod Stryker. Sherry,
certified E-RYT 500 hours by the accreditation organization, Yoga Alliance, soon
receives her 200 hour ParaYoga Dedicated
Teacher status from Stryker.
Both new and experienced Yoga
practitioners connect with their natural state of health and happiness under
Sherry’s guidance. Her
teaching focuses on precision, principles of alignment, breathing techniques,
visualization and meditation – all within a framework of joy, nurturing and
insight as to specific needs of mind, body and spirit.
Sherry’s students include
other yoga professionals, homemakers, doctors, lawyers, and CEOs.
She founded a Yoga and meditation program for homeless women.
She has been a Yoga studio manager and consultant and leads retreats,
workshops and trainings in the Midwest and beyond.
Sherry’s own joy in teaching
comes from supporting a student’s new understanding, a release from old
patterns, or a fresh way of relating with others and one’s self. She reveres
Yoga as a means for healing. Sherry
is a certified Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and Level 1 practitioner of the Yuen
Method of Chinese energetic healing.
WHAT
DO PEOPLE SAY ABOUT SHERRY SUMMERS?
"I
found working with Sherry to be a life-altering experience. My
job and stress levels were consuming me. I needed peace, calm, and confidence
and to feel better physically and spiritually.
Learning to practice yoga with Sherry
brought me energy balanced with a new sense of calm and joy.
Her gentle voice and touch moved me to tears at times when we were going
into issues while that I needed to explore with someone I could trust. She is a
natural counselor and healer. Today my back pain is less,
and I manage stress so much better.”

“I
am both a personal trainer and a busy trial lawyer... Sherry has taken me from a
fit, but inflexible, 60 year-old to a devotee who will now embrace yoga for the
rest of his life. Sherry is incredibly knowledgeable about yoga... She is
conscientious and cautiously
transitions her students into an ever-expanding experience.
Her enthusiasm and personal touch take her efforts far beyond that of an
instructor. Indeed, she is instead
a truly inspirational and caring ambassador for yoga and its accompanying
lifestyle.”

“I
have had the pleasure of learning from Sherry for the last three years.
Sherry epitomizes the yogic ideal, living and teaching principles that
are universal and accessible to us all. I
find her instructions and teaching to be joyful, compassionate, and ultimately
pragmatic. As a middle aged male with arthritic problems, this is very important
to me. Sherry individualizes
lessons based on that person's needs, creating a safe environment with which to
explore the edges of our physical and perceptual boundaries.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to learn with Sherry.
Her presence has enriched my life."
Laurence
Berarducci, M.D.
”As
a professional with a demanding career, I find private yoga sessions with Sherry
to be vital to my physical and emotional well being.
Because we work together one-on-one, she is able to focus on precisely
what my body and spirit need at any
specific time. Personalized yoga
with Sherry is always an energizing, balancing
experience.”
